Hear cannons roar at the 27th Annual Fort Stevens Civil War Reenactment on Sep 2-4, 2017 at Fort Stevens Park in Hammond, Oregon. The Fort Stevens Civil War Reenactment is one of the largest of its kind in the northwest region. Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery, Medical Corps, Camp Followers, and Townspeople (sutlers) make up the variety of Civil War period reenactors you’ll encounter. Future events at Fort Stevens canceled due to lack of State funding. Looking for new location.

Fort Stevens Civil War Reenactment

Several live battles are reenacted at the Fort Stevens Civil War Reenactment for your to viewing over the Labor Day weekend. Meet President Abraham Lincoln, see a fashion show, listen in on fife and drum practice, stroll through the camps of the Union and Confederate reenactors to admire craftsmen, cooks, and undertakers, and spend the day learning about history first hand from soldiers. Watch field artillery demonstrations and see actual cannons fire from up close.

Food and drinks available for purchase from Annie’s Kettle Corn. Traders/sutlers general stores offer clothing, toys, and more for purchase. Do your pets a favor and leave them at home as this event includes long periods of very loud artillery and rifle firing during battles.

The Northwest Civil War Council and the Friends of Old Fort Stevens will host the annual Fort Stevens Civil War Reenactment over the Labor Day Weekend. This reenactment takes place in the historic area of the fort. Fort Stevens is the Northwest Civil War Council’s largest event, drawing reenactors from all over the West Coast, including Washington, California, Nevada, Idaho and Canada.

$20 per carload, plus a $5 day use fee (Saturday & Sunday)

All participants must have an event card to take part in the event. Your NCWC Membership Card will serve as your event card, which is marked for each event upon registration.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]Membership cards, parking passes and event cards are mandatory.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]They will be checked. Parking passes must be visible in your vehicle. WCWA members will be give a temporary parking pass that must be in there vehicle.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]No parking in fire lanes or vehicles will be fined and or towed. Fire lanes will be marked in reenactor parking.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]Only reenactors with handicap/diabled placards And current membership cards, parking pass and event card will be allowed to park in handicap reenactor parking and camp in handicap reenactor camping.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]This is a state park, that means no smoking except in your personal camp site or vehicle. No drug or marijuana use.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]On Monday at close of event the back gate will be open as the exit gate. The exit sign will be moved to note this change.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]Absolutely no reenactors are to park in spectator parking.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]No vehicles will be allowed in the camps or event area from 7am Saturday morning to 3pm Monday.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]All garbage must be put in the dumpster.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]Absolutely no bathing or washing dishes in the bathrooms.[/li_item] [li_item icon=””]All fire pits need to be put back in pre event state. About Fort Stevens
Fort Stevens was built in 1865 to guard the Columbia River from Confederate ships which actually did wreak havoc on the Pacific Northwest economy at times during the war. Then, it was an earthen fort, but by World War 2 the concrete battlements of Battery Russell and other areas were built.
