2018 Jenkins Ferry Battle Reenactment
Don’t miss the action at the annual Jenkins Ferry Battle Reenactment on September 28-30, 2018 near Sheridan, Arkansas, near the original battlefield. The Jenkins Ferry Battle Reenactment will be held just 4 miles north of Jenkins Ferry State Park and 8 miles South of Sheridan on about 180 acres. The event is sponsored by Friends of Jenkins Ferry and the 2nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment Reenactors. There is plenty of camping area to set up camp for both Union and Confederate armies, so make your plans to attend now!
Redding Rancheria Stillwater Pow Wow
Fridays activities include: Soldiers camp open to visitors. Experience life as a soldier during the Civil War. Sutlers who traveled with the troops will have their stores open for soldiers and visitors. These merchants followed the troops and provided for their needs on the campaign.
Saturday, the camp and sutlers will be open for visitors. We will also have a living history display. The battle will begin at 2:00 pm at 7271 Hwy 46 South, just 4 miles from the original battle site. Saturday evening a vintage dance will be held in the barn. Instructions will be provided for the novice dancer.
Battle plans are in the works, with tacticals, as well as scripted actions. All amenities will be provided: Hay, wood, water, and Porta-Johns. Sutlers will be on site (to be announced). Those who wish to camp in the woods may do so.
Visitors will have a chance to visit with each camp areas, learn the life of a civil war soldier’s, Cavalry, Artillery, and civilians, and be able to ask questions. Teachers, don’t miss the chance for your students to experience American history first hand. School day is scheduled for Friday from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Watch history come alive with drilling, battles, and all kinds of different activities for the spectators..
