2018 Penn’s Colony Festival
Experience French & Indian era America at Penn’s Colony Festival on September 22-23 and 29-30, 2018 in Saxonburg, Pennslyvania. Penn’s Colony Festival is as unique among other festivals as the Pittsburgh region is to the nation. With an authentic focus on the French & Indian era, that began with the 1753 journey of a 21-year-old George Washington through this region, Penn’s Colony Festival weaves history into a colonial faire featuring a village filled with fine craftsmen.
Penn’s Colony Festival
Events from Washington’s first, and subsequent visits to this region, led to the sparking of the French and Indian War which changed the course of history for America, and the world.
At Penn’s Colony Festival, the living history encampment presents re-enactors from the British, Colonial, Scottish, French and Native groups which made their mark on this region during the pivotal years of the French & Indian War (1754-1760). The Encampments, Battle Re-Enactments, Skills Presentations and Hidden History Revelations tell the story of our region.
Penn’s Colony Festival Marketplace is affordable quality that people trust.
The distinction of Penn’s Colony craftsmen is quality and variety in large number of artisans who gather once a year to showcase contemporary and traditional works for the home, garden, seasonal and holiday decor, gifts and personal accessories.
A mission for design integrity, renewable and safe resources and American-made wares results in artisans and work that customers have trusted for 30 years.
Whether you want a custom-made primitive kitchen cabinet, leathersmiths handtooling an intricate design into belt, a glass blower creating a globe ornament, you will find it here. Among the Penn’s Colony Festival artisans you will see a potter at their wheel and a blacksmith at the forge. Watch a weaver magically reveal the colorful patterns of a floor rug on the loom. Or see how a spinner works with wool.
You’ll see beautiful inspired designs with the style and function you want. As an added value, learn why these handmade in America products outperform the imports. For example, why belts from retail stores “crack” or why our potter’s coffee mug is just more comfortable to hold. As you browse up and down one road to the next in the Penn’s Colony Village, the experience of handmade quality will be repeated wherever you turn.
It is about how to find beautiful items for practically every need that are safe to use, to wear and to enjoy. That’s why customers have trusted our artisans for 30 years. To us, that’s the important story that never grows old at Penn’s Colony Festival and Folk Art Marketplace!
