2019 Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Pow Wow
All are welcome to the 35th Annual Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Pow Wow on July 26-28, 2019 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Tribal dancers, singers, vendors and spectators are expected from all over the region and US. Since 1984, the annual Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Pow Wow has offered visitors the opportunity to observe and experience traditional Native American dress, dancing, drumming, chanting, cuisine, and crafts. Pow Wows have evolved from intimate tribal gatherings to public celebrations focused on culturally rich events.
Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Pow Wow
The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Pow Wow officially begins with the lighting of the sacred fire that burns throughout the weekend plus the grand entry of dancers. Each style requires distinct dance steps and techniques, all complimenting the dancer’s movements. Age-group categories are in place for the dance styles, ranging from juniors aged 6-11 to platinum for age 65 and over. Upwards of 500 dancers typically take part in the this traditional dance at the Pow Wow.
This Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Pow Wow attracts participants from all over the United States, making it one of the largest events in the Indian Nation and a terrific place for visitors to learn about Native American culture and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
Visit the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Reservation to experience native traditions in a natural setting with authentic foods, arts and crafts, dancing and storytelling. Enjoy and learn about history that is stored away in the center of Michigan. Eagle feathers, handmade regalia and fry bread are just a few of the items that will be on hand on the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe’s Reservation.
Powwow Admission: FREE
Parking fee: No parking fee, however, there are designated parking areas for those needing assistance and there are powwow workers who will be directing people to the parking areas.

In Case of Rain: Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Entertainment Hall
6800 Soaring Eagle Boulevard is the designated rain out location. The Powwow Committee will make the call to move the event indoors if necessary and the vendors will coordinate directly with Craig Graveratte to be assigned their indoor vendor locations.
The Sacred Fire will be available and is located near the eastern door where the powwow dancers and dignitaries enter the arena.
