The Sierra Madre Muzzle Loading Rifle Club Rendezvous is a chance for everyone to experience a truly historic event. See the sights, smell the smells and hear the sounds that haven’t been around for over 150 years. All of this is happening in the beautiful Encampment River Valley the last weekend in July at the Grand Encampment Museum.
There is no charge to visit this historic affair. Lots of beautiful spots are available for both primitive and modern camping free of charge. Trader’s fee is one donated prize. Drinking water, some firewood and toilet facilities are on site. Dogs must be leashed (strictly enforced). No horses please. Fires are allowed with some restrictions.
Many outstanding donated prizes will be awarded at the Black powder shoot. The prizes for the highest aggregate scores for both men and women will be $200 cash. This money was raised by the club. Also this year, we will be giving the two kids’ shooting classes $200 cash for prizes.
Shooting Fees & Events
Shooting fees are $20 for single person and $30 for a family. Hawk and Knife is $5 and Frying Pan is $1. Shooting events as well as Hawk and knife throwing are for all ages. Lots of other entertaining activities such as primitive fire starting and the frying pan throw are planned.
The Sierra Madre Muzzle Loading Rifle Club Rendezvous is a fun weekend for the whole family. There will be lots of old time kids games and crafts, including a candy cannon going off several times daily and a treasure hunt for coins in the sawdust pile. We try to make this a safe and exciting event for everyone. Dog Soldiers (event law enforcement) will be on duty day and night, and the Booshway is on site as well.
The Sierra Madre Muzzle Loading Rifle Club Rendezvous is produced in cooperation with the Sierra Madre Muzzleloaders and the Town of Encampment.
