2019 Wichita Tribal Dance
Attend the 43rd Annual Wichita Tribal Dance on August 8-11, 2019 at the Wichita Tribal Park in Anadarko, Oklahoma. The Wichita Tribal Dance is a free event and is open to the public. Visitors can witness breathtaking American Indian dance competitions. Watch as Native American dancers dance in traditional regalia to the heart-pumping beat of drums.
Wichita Tribal Dance
Dance competitions are open to Wichita Tribal members and their descendants. Gourd dancers, war dancers and a color guard will all be on-hand to participate in this year’s Wichita Tribal Dance. Free meals will be available on designated nights of the event. Food and vendor booths will also be on-site.
About the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes
Organized as the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, the center of activity is at Anadarko, Oklahoma, where the Wichita Tribal Park and office buildings are located. The tribal government, established under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934 and the Oklahoma Welfare Act of 1935, consists of a President and Executive Committee who are elected to four-year terms by the enrolled tribal members. The Wichitas have joined also with the Caddo and Delaware tribes to form WCD Enterprises, an organization that promotes business development.
