2018 Straight Out of Auburn Big Time Pow Wow
The 11th Annual Out of Auburn Big Time-Pow Wow will be held Saturday October 20th, 2018 at @The Grounds, 800 All American City Boulevard, Roseville, CA. This favorite Placer County cultural event provides a unique celebration of Indigenous music, dance, and cultural traditions. An Indian Market featuring Native American art, food and crafts will open at 9:00 a.m., with an opening ceremony of California Native traditional dancing at 10:00 a.m.. Gourd Dancing begins at 11:00 a.m. and the Grand Entry for Inter-Tribal Pow Wow dance begins at 12 noon. During the Grand Entry, a Veteran’s Color Guard will lead a procession of a hundred dancers in regalia representing different tribal groups from across the nation. The afternoon will feature children’s dance and open inter-tribal dancing, with a guest performance by the Halau Ka Waikahe Lani Malie Hawaiian dance group at 5:00 p.m. Spectacular adult contest dancers and intertribal dancing will continue until the closing ceremony at 9:00 p.m.
Auburn Big Time Pow Wow
The Annual Auburn Big Time-Pow Wow attracts people from diverse tribal groups to gather for the purpose of honoring the traditions of their ancestors. This family-friendly event inspires cultural pride and provides an opportunity for tribal families to share traditions with all of Placer County residents. A great opportunity to educate children and get some early Christmas shopping in! The Big Time-Pow Wow is sponsored by the Sierra Native Alliance with the support of the Placer Campaign for Community Wellness and the United Auburn Indian Community. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs.

Made possible by the Sierra Native Alliance, the Auburn Big Time-Pow Wow is a free, family-friendly event that is held at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. This family-friendly event is free and open to everyone, and offers food vendors on site. Seating is limited, so spectators are encouraged to bring chairs. The Sierra Native Alliance (SNA) is a non-profit family resource agency that empowers Native youth and families through cultural resources, education and environmental activities. Located at 610 Auburn Ravine Road in Auburn; SNA family services are supported by the Placer Campaign for Community Wellness towards the goal of improving the health of families in Placer County.
