All are welcome at the 9th Annual Big Drum Powwow on September 29-30, 2018 at the Roger Williams Memorial National Park in Providence, Rhode Island. The Big Drum Powwow is hosted by Eastern Medicine Cultural LLC, in conjunction with sponsors, National Park Service and the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts. Eastern Algonquin Woodlands Powwow. Part of Native New England Cultural Week with four supporting colleges: New England Tech, RWU, RIC and Brown University.

About New England Native American Culture Week
New England Native American Culture Week (NENACW) is a partnership between Rhode Island College (RIC); Eastern Medicine Cultural, LLC; Mount Hope Neighborhood Association, Inc; Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA); Roger Williams National Memorial; and MoonHawk Productions. It was started in 2009 by Ray Watson of the Eastern Medicine Singers. NENACW is a week long celebration that focuses on the Eastern Woodland Indian culture and traditions. Panel discussions, film screenings and art exhibits, and annual Big Drum Powwow are part of the NENACW events which are free and open to the public.
About the Host, Eastern Medicine Cultural LLC
The Eastern Medicine Singers are an Algonquin drum group from Providence, RI, dedicated to keeping the eastern woodlands Native American culture alive. The drum group is made up of RI, NY, NJ & Southeastern Massachusetts Tribes and they take pride in drumming and singing in the language of Massachusett & Wampanoag dialect. The Eastern Medicine Singers create new music and combine stories and culture into the drum experience. Eastern Medicine Singers started in 2008 to support the NAPEWA Native Youth Program at the RI Indian Council in Providence. They have played at the 2013 Summer Solstice Festival, the Providence Art Club, RI Department of Tourism, RI State Council on the Arts, NH Intertribal Council Powwows, Ramapough Nation, Mashantucket Pequot Nation, Nipmuc Nation, Woonsocket Autumnfest, and many others.
