2019 Chickahominy Pow Wow & Fall Festival
Join us at the 68th Annual Chickahominy Pow Wow & Fall Festival on September 28-29, 2019 at the Chickahominy Tribal Grounds in Charles City, Virginia. Native Americans from throughout the country will join the Chickahominy Indian Tribe as they celebrate their annual Fall Festival/Pow-Wow. The Chickahominy Pow-Wow, held annually the last weekend in September, draws 3,000 to 5,000 visitors who travel from all over the United States to attend. Miss Chickahominy, Junior Miss Chickahominy and Little Miss Chickahominy are crowned at the Pow-Wow. The Tribe also hosts a Crab Feast in October and the Six Nations Pow-Wow the first weekend in May.
Chickahominy Pow Wow & Fall Festival
Thousands of visitors will experience Native American dancers, drummers, singers & crafters, traditional crafts and skills demonstrators, flute music, historical information displays and food. The Chickahominy Powwow & Fall Festival is the longest running traditional pow wow in Virginia.
The Chickahominy Powwow & Fall Festival is a family-friendly event that is educational, cultural and fun! Seating is limited so bring lawn chairs. Please, no pets. Free parking/no gate admission.
Native dance styles you will see at the Chickahominy Powwow include: Hoop Dancing, the Chicken Dance, Grass dancing, as well as men’s and women’s traditional, Jingle Dress and Fancy Shawl. In addition to the singing and dancing, enjoy shopping at vendor arts and crafts booths, or try favorite native foods like Indian Fry bread.
