2019 Edmonds Community College Powwow
All are welcome at the 34th Annual Edmonds Community College Powwow on May 4-5, 2019 at the Edmonds Community College Seaview Gymnasium in Lynnwood, Washington. The Edmonds Community College Powwow brings together students, families, and communities to celebrate American Indian singing, drumming, dancing, and arts and crafts.
Edmonds Community College Powwow
The college appreciates the support of dancers and singers and will provide honoraria to dancers in full regalia and drum groups who register by 15 minutes prior to each session and participate throughout the session. Honoraria will be paid at the end of each session.
Students and employees of Edmonds CC participate in a variety of environmental, service-learning, and cultural activities throughout the year that supports local tribes and tribal members. Powwows are social gatherings – open to all people – celebrating American Indian tribes’ traditions, styles of dance, songs, families, and friendships. Dancers and drummers come to the Edmonds Community College Powwow from tribes throughout the Northwest and United States.

The Edmonds Community College Powwow Committee is excited to open registration for Vendor and Information Booths for the annual powwow. Payments in advance to reserve your spot is preferred. Food vendors must provide Snohomish County Health District approved permit a minimum of three days before event. (only SCHD permits are accepted). Vendors who pay in FULL by Monday, May 1, will receive both days (Saturday and Sunday) for the same price. After May 1, the prices below are per day.

10 x 10 Indoor Arts and Craft Vendor – $150
6 ft Arts and Craft Vendor Table – $50
6 ft. Non-profit Information Table – Free (With advance registration)
Food Vendor Booths are located in the outdoor vending parking lot
*All food vendors must provide their own tables, chairs, lights, extension cords, generator, and hand washing station

Volunteer to Help the Edmonds Community College Powwow
Get involved and volunteer at one or all of the sessions of the Powwow! Volunteers are needed from Friday-Sunday. SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER
[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Powwow Protocol”] Edmonds Community College PowwowThe open area in the middle of the gym is called the “arena”. Please do not enter the arena unless invited and/or instructed to do so. The chairs around the arena are reserved for the dancers, drum groups, and their families. Guests are welcome to sit in the bleacher section. We respect and honor our elders; please give them first priority seating and accommodations.
All are welcome to dance during the intertribal and social dances. The Master of Ceremonies (MC) will announce these rounds and invite guests to enter the arena.
Grand Entry
There are three grand entries during the Powwow. Please stand and remove hats until the procession has stopped and the prayer has been completed.
Pictures and Recording
Taking pictures and recording is allowed during much of the Powwow. However, there are certain times when taking pictures or recording songs is not allowed. The Master of Ceremonies will advise guests when NOT to take pictures. For example, pictures and/or recordings are NOT allowed during prayers and/or honor songs. Feel free to ask someone if you are uncertain. Always ask permission of individual dancers or drum groups for their permission to be photographed. Please refrain from any activity that will interfere or interrupt a dancer or drum group.
Applause
Feel free to applaud during the dance contests. If you would like to honor a specific dancer with a gift or donation, please inform a staff member of the Master of Ceremonies.
Smoking
Please smoke only in the designated areas outside.[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion]
