2019 IICOT Powwow of Champions
The 41st Annual IICOT Powwow of Champions will be held on August 9-11, 2019 at the ORU Mabree Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Experience the beauty and richness of Native American culture when the Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa (IICOT) hosts the Annual Pow Wow of Champions. IICOT invites every one to attend a magnificent celebration of Native American culture. The ORU Mabee Center in Tulsa will come alive in a colorful expression of dance, drum music and song as members of tribal nations from around the country gather to honor, strengthen and share traditions with each other and the general public at this year’s IICOT Powwow of Champions. Over 300 dancers, dressed in full Native American regalia, will participate throughout the weekend, including impressive grand entries, intertribal dances and dance competitions.
IICOT Powwow of Champions
The grand entries at the IICOT Powwow of Champions take place at the beginning of each dance session, led by the Eagle Staff and a Native American color guard. The procession of American Indian dignitaries and dancers is a brilliant and constantly moving sea of color circling the arena to the rhythmic beat of drum and song. In the competitive dance contests, dancers exhibit their skills with grace.
The IICOT Pow Wow of Champions also features an Arts and Crafts Mart with an excellent selection of traditional and contemporary jewelry, artwork, beadwork, paintings, and quality handcrafted items.
Traditional Native American foods will be a prominent part of this annual IICOT Powwow of Champions. Fry bread, Meat Pies, and Indian tacos will be offered, as well as many other powwow favorites.
The IICOT Pow Wow of Champions is a family event that is alcohol and drug free.
