2019 Sun Watch Indian Village Keeping the Tradition Pow Wow

Join the celebration at the 31st Annual Sun Watch Indian Village Keeping the Tradition Pow Wow on June 22-23, 2019 at the Sun Watch Indian Village in Dayton, Ohio. The Miami Valley Council for Native Americans hosts the annual event. Explore a tradition exemplifying generosity and giving while enjoying traditional dancing, arts and crafts, food, and singing. Be sure to wear light weight clothing and bring a camera, water, sun protection and a lawn chair or blanket.

Keeping the Tradition Pow Wow

During the Keeping the Tradition Pow Wow, the serene setting at SunWatch transforms with the beat of drums and the sounds and rhythm of American Indian music. For American Indians, Pow Wow is a special time to reflect upon a rich heritage and come into the Pow Wow circle with honor and respect for one another and the drum.

The Keeping the Tradition Pow Wow features both men’s and women’s dances, including the men’s grass dance and the women’s shawl and jingle dance, performed wearing full regalia. In addition, traditional American Indian arts, crafts and food will be available from vendors.

Admission is $8.00/Adults, $6.00/Seniors (60+) and Children (6-17), Free/Age 5 & under. Weekend passes are available for $15.00/Adults, $9.00/Seniors (60+) and Children (6-17), Free/Age 5 & under. DSNH Members 1/2 price admission.

Tip to Visitors
Be sure to wear light weight clothing and bring a camera, water, sun protection and a lawn chair or blanket. Pow Wow grounds open at 11:00 a.m. Grand Entries at 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Noon on Sunday.
