Mountain Man Rendezvous at Petit Jean State Park
During the Thanksgiving season, visitors to Petit Jean State Park are invited to take a step back in time to the early 1800s, at the park’s Annual Mountain Man Rendezvous. Visitors will be able to see how people dressed and lived when much of Arkansas was an unsettled wilderness in the early 1800s, a place of French exploration and fur trade. The rendezvous camp will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
During the Petit Jean Mountain Rendezvous visitors can get a look at life during the 1830s and an opportunity to visit with reenactors portraying that time period. There will be demonstrations that show how a muzzleloader rifle works, take a peek inside of a sutler’s trade tent to see all that it has to offer, participate in pioneer children’s games, and stroke some wild animal furs..
