2019 Ponemah Labor Day Pow Wow
All are welcome at the 46th Annual Ponemah Labor Day Pow Wow on August 30 – September 2, 2019 at the Ponemah Pow wow Grounds in Ponemah, Minnesota. Join dancers and drums from across the region who compete for thousands of dollars (and bragging rights) in contest prize money. Admission is free and spectators are invited to watch as Native dancers dance to the beat of the drum according to the style of their beautiful and colorful regalia.
Ponemah Pow Wow (aka O-Bah-Shiing Labor Day Celebration Pow Wow)
During the four days of the Ponemah Labor Day Pow Wow, six dance sessions will take place from Friday to Monday. These are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. each day, and 7:00 p.m. additionally on Saturday and Sunday evening. Grand Entry of the dancers will begin each dance session, followed by intertribal dancers, dance specials, contests and give-aways. Don’t miss the Ponemah Pow wow parade at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. If you want to participate, line up and begin at 11 AM south of Ponemah Market.
Arena Directors will keep the Ponemah Labor Day Pow Wow running smoothly, and MCs will keep spectators and participants alike both entertained and informed. This is a family friendly event, so bring everyone! By the way, Ponemah, Minnesota (or Obaashiing) is the most Native American census designated location in the United States by percent, 99.20 percent American Indian!
