2019 Rama Powwow
All are welcome at the 33rd Annual Rama Powwow on August 23-25, 2019 at the John Snake Memorial Multipurpose Grounds in Rama, Ontario, Canada. Witness some of Turtle Island’s finest World-Class singers and powwow dancers as they compete against one another in this competition powwow which has become one of the biggest and best powwows in Ontario. Dozens of vendors (food, arts, and crafts). Over the years, Rama First Nation has witnessed an expediential growth of the powwow, which was once mainly a small event where about a dozen community veterans would attend along with guests from Walpole, Wiky, Sarnia, and even Milwaukee. Now a competition powwow, the event has grown substantially, hosting between 3,000 – 5,000 visitors each year. We are gratified to have so many guests visit Rama to partake in the event which has been part of the community’s culture for several decades and continues to evolve.
This is a great family event, open to all. Come and learn about our beautiful First Nations culture and history. $10 day, $15 weekend. Kids under 12, veterans, seniors, or disabled individuals get in for free.
Chippewas of Rama First Nation have been hosting powwows since 1986 at the beautiful John Snake Memorial Multipurpose Grounds on the territory of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Had it not been for the indomitable will of a few individuals in the 1970’s, we would not be celebrating so many years of powwow at the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Pleae keep in mind that the Rama Powwow is a family-friendly event. No pets, alcohol, or drugs are permitted onsite.
