2019 Two Rivers Powwow
All are welcome at the 1st Annual Two Rivers Powwow on May 18, 2019 at Handke Center in Elk River, Minnesota. The powwow is open to the public with no admission fee. It will be a short traditional powwow with honorarium for registered dancers. There will be food, dancing, and an opportunity to connect with local artists/crafters. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in some hands on cultural activity demonstrations.
Red Bone will be the host drum and there will be a special hoop dance performance by The Sampson Brothers, Lumhe and Samsoche Sampson, as well as an honoring of the community’s graduating seniors. The doors open at 11 a.m., with the Grand Entry at 1 p.m., and a free feast at 4 p.m.
The Two Rivers Powwow is a collaboration between multiple Indian Education Programs in the north metro area: Anoka-Hennepin, Elk River, Saint Francis, and Princeton/Milaca.
