2019 University of Oregon NASU Mothers Day Powwow
Celebrate mom at the 51st Annual University of Oregon NASU Mothers Day Powwow on May 10-11, 2019 at McArthur Court in Eugene, Oregon. It’s all in the title: The University of Oregon NASU Mothers Day Powwow is hosted by the UO Native American Student Union, and features everything that a traditional powwow does — feasting, dancing, singing and celebration.
University of Oregon NASU Mothers Day Powwow
The University of Oregon NASU Mothers Day Powwow weekend will begin at McArthur Court on Friday with the 6:00 pm formal Grand Entry — a full-dress, ceremonial event that includes dancing, drumming, color guards and tribal elders. The evening, complete with friendly competitions and music performances, will last until 11 p.m. On Saturday, another grand entry will be made into the arena at noon followed by a dinner break and a final grand entry 7 p.m. with singing and dancing recommencing until 11 p.m.
Throughout the weekend, powwow-goers will also have the opportunity shop from Native vendors setup around the dance arena.
All events are free and open to the public.
Powwow Schedule
Friday: Grand Entry 6:00 pm
Saturday: Grand Entry Noon and 7:00 pm
Saturday: Dinner provided at 5pm at the Many Nations Longhouse
Sunday: Free Salmon Bake meal Sunday
