Wambli Sapa Memorial Pow Wow
The public is invited to join in the Saturday festivities, which bring together Native Americans and non-Natives to honor the generations with indigenous dance, song, arts and traditional crafts. Members of the Ponca, Omaha and Lakota tribes will be represented at the powwow.
The UNO Pow Wow is named “Wambli Sapa Memorial Pow Wow” to honor the legacy of Fred Leroy, a prominent Ponca leader and respected elder, who passed away a few years ago. Fred Leroy was a great friend and supporter of the Native students on the UNO campus.
