2019 Woodlands and High Plains Traditional Powwow
The 30th Annual Woodlands and High Plains Traditional Powwow will be held March 30, 2019, at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. The event will have more than 2,500 attendees throughout the day, with authentic American Indian fry bread tacos, community informational booths and commercial vendors from more than three states who will be selling authentic American Indian crafts, jewelry, pottery and other beadwork items.
Woodlands and High Plains Traditional Powwow
During the grand entry that starts the 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. dance sessions, you will see over 250 dancers in regalia from the tri-state area representing their dance style, while hearing the beat of the drum, a sound many Native Americans refer to as the heartbeat of Mother Earth. The Woodlands and High Plains Traditional Powwow will celebrate the academic accomplishments and achievements of American Indian college graduates.
Admission:
$3.00 for elders 55 years of age and up
$3.00 for youth, ages 6-18
$5.00 for adults
Free for students from NDSU, Minnesota State University Moorhead, M State and Concordia College with student ID. Children 5 and under also are admitted free.
Hours: Noon – 10:00 p.m.
Grand Entries: 1:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Feast Time: 5:00 p.m. in the Memorial Union lower-level food court
Hand Game Tournament: $50 team entrance fee. Intertribal tyle for 3-5 team members, prizes awarded to first and second place winners.
Payouts: Registered Dancers (registration between 10:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) and first 10 drums (no drum hopping).
