Join us for the 5th Annual Colonial Faire at Riley’s Farm in Oak Glen, California each Saturday in July, plus the 4th, is a family-friendly, interactive cultural event aimed at entertaining and educating the public about life in the American colonies in the late 18th century.

Go back in time to a bustling New England village and be here as it comes to life in as Colonial Chesterfield hosts interactive dramatic presentations, swordplay demonstrations and duels of honor, music and theatre, old-fashioned games, hands-on activities and classic sports like tomahawk throwing and archery (ages 8+), colonial crafts like candle dipping and weaving, and unique shopping with local artisans and colonial sutlers.
Culinary delights abound in the Hawk’s Head Publick House, which serves hearty country comfort cuisine, fine wines, ales, and hard ciders. Our famous on-site bakery will craft plenty of five-pound apple pies and seasonal pastries, too, so join us for a day filled with fun, feasting, history, and outdoor adventure in scenic Oak Glen!

Attention all Reenactors of the 18th Century!
Riley’s Farm invites you to join us for the annual Colonial Faire at Riley’s Farm, to be held on the grounds of Colonial Chesterfield. Tavern keeper and justice of the peace “Silas Rhodes” (James Patrick Riley) takes this method to inform living historians they are welcome to camp, cook, and play upon the farm grounds during this recreation of 18th century New England village life. [su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Taking part in the Colonial Faire at Riley’s Farm”] Screening: You must provide pictures of your equipment and period clothing by June 1st, 2017 for participation approval.
Camping: Arrive Friday afternoon or Saturday morning to set up period camping. All vehicles and modern equipment must be removed from the encampment area by 9:30 AM. Longer term encampments may be approved on a case by case basis.
Food: Riley’s Farm will provide a complimentary lunch for each individual reenacting in your group.
Free Colonial Faire Tickets: Riley’s Farm will provide free admission, as well as one free comp ticket for each individual reenacting.
Discount Riley’s Farm Tickets: each day of public participation earns living historians one free Riley’s Farm dinner theater ticket, (a $45 to $60 value).
Bathrooms: Riley’s Farm has onsite privies (Bathrooms) with showers available at all times.[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion]

When is Colonial Faire?
Set in Chesterfield, New Hampshire in the year 1774, Colonial Faire at Riley’s Farm takes place from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on each Saturday in July, plus July 4th.
Daily Activities at Colonial Faire at Riley’s Farm
Each day of Colonial Faire features a unique itinerary and special guest performers and these all-day activities for each event day: Tomahawk Throwing * Archery (ages 8+) * Candle Dipping * Culinary Arts & Kitchen Herbs * Modern Fashion * Calligraphy, Papermaking, and Printing * Blacksmithing * Colonial Games * Textile Arts: Spinning, dyeing, weaving * Animal Care * Weapons & Accoutrements * Broom Making * Old Soldier’s Tavern Encampment.
Battle Note: Although the event will feature colonial militia muster and marching exercises, this is not a battle re-enactment. The emphasis of the event will be first-person portrayals of period crafts, country life, with a special emphasis upon dramatic vignettes illustrating the origins of American liberties.

Fruit Picking: Patrons who wish to pick fresh strawberries during the event should check in at the Colonial Mercantile before entering the patch to check daily crop status and purchase a berry picking container.
Faire Re-Entry: Your wristband will guarantee re-admission to the fairegrounds if you need to leave and return later in the day.
RV Parking available: Complimentary space for RV parking is available from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on the day of the event. Overnight parking is available only to reenactors who are participating in the event’s period encampment. Email info@rileysfarm.com for details.
Outside Food & Drink: No outside food and drink is permitted at this event. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free foods are available for purchase in the Hawk’s Head Public House.
Costumes: Many guests arrive in colonial attire, but it is not required by any means. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. Come dressed to play! Due to safety and insurance requirements all guests are required to wear shoes at all times. Note that some cast members may appear in bare feet for dramatic presentations on a limited basis.
Weapons: Weapons brought for use with your costume are to be “peace-tied” and shall remain sheathed. Exposed steel is not permitted. You may bring your bow if it is unstrung, or strung with yarn (or some other line that cannot hold tension). Arrows should be untipped. The constable will be on patrol to ensure public safety.
Wheelchair accessible: With the understanding that this event is held outdoors. We do not rent wheelchairs or scooters.
Pets: Due to the nature of the show, the faire can be a high-stress environment for some animals and is not a suitable destination for household pets. Service animals under the ADA are welcome!
Smoking: Due to high fire danger, smoking is only permitted in the Colonial Chesterfield parking lot. Note that some cast members may employ the use of a colonial clay pipe and tobacco as part of their presentation on a limited basis.
Weather: Rain or shine, the show must go on! No refunds or rainchecks are offered in the (unlikely) event of inclement weather.
Vendors: A 10% charge will need to be paid to Riley’s Farm for all wares sold on site.
