Primitive Craft Supplies: Animal Parts

Animals that provided food and shelter for Native Americans and mountain men also provided the materials for many of their crafts. Horsehair was used to adorn shirts, leggings, bags and many other items; porcupine hair was used for headdresses, porky quills, dyed in colors by natural dyes such as berries, provided color to craftwork before (and after) the introduction of glass seed beads. Both natural white and dyed deer tails provided color to porky roaches; buffalo and steer horns were used both for decoration, and for various horn utensils used around the camp.

Crazy Crow Trading Post offers many of these hard-to-get primitive craft supplies for your use in traditional crafts. Please note any export or shipping restrictions indicated on particular items.
