Books and videos covering those eras include how people lived in different cultures, their history, how they came to interact and the results of that interaction. Books include what we now call 'primitive skills'. What that means is based on what culture is comparing itself to another, but in this case, it's the skills they needed in each of these eras, particularly on the frontier or in the mountains, or just outdoors, whether Native American, trapper, or anyone on the move from one place to another. Spoiler alert: they could not use a smart phone to make a reservation for the night, so you'd best have firemaking tools at a bare minimum!

Categorizing these books is problematic as many can go in multiple categories, so don't be surprised to find a book on tomahawk throwing in both the 'Knife & Hawk' books as well as the 'primitive skills' books and videos.
