Founded in 1785, only men who had wintered in the "upper country" could qualify as members of this social organization of fur traders. Upon admission, each member had a gold medal made, engraved with his name and the date of his first visit to Indian country and wore it on a blue ribbon. 1-1/2" diameter, with ribbon.
