These 6"-8" Strung Fluffs, also commonly referred to as strung marabou feathers, are hand sorted for uniform size and quality before stringing, helping reduce waste and the time required to sort individual feathers. Their longer length and soft, full appearance make them especially useful for Native American feather bustle construction, dance regalia and other feather craft projects.

In modern Fancy Dance bustle construction, 5"-6" fluffs, as used in our bustle kits, or the longer 6"-8" size offered here may be used in the base and inner rows of the bustle, where they provide fullness and strong areas of color around the primary feathers. The additional length of these 6"-8" fluffs can be especially useful when greater fullness and a larger visual effect are desired. Fluffs may also be used in center rosette areas.

When combined with longer, more flexible saddle hackles in the outer rows, the fluffs provide the dense foundation behind the flowing movement of the hackles. Because these feathers are hand sorted and already strung, the craftsman can work with a more uniform supply when constructing repeated rows, reducing the sorting required with loose feathers.
