I purchased this little axe a year ago and the handle broke the first time I used it! The wood is way to soft and the head almost hit me on its way down. Overall the blade is great at 2 inches and after fashioning my own handle it cuts down 2 inch diameter branches w/ ease! It is also so light you barely notice it. I read Woodcraft by Nessmuk and believe in the "Nessmuk trio w/ addition of saw". The blade takes an edge and holds it great, the hammer side is not hardened and has small chips in steel after lightly pounding small metal tent pegs into ground. I purchased both this model and fancy Kentucky belt axe. This has a thin blade and is good for cutting, the Kentucky (Ft. Meigs) has a thicker blade and is good for splitting (even 8 inch diameter pine logs w/ ease)which is why I prefer it to the Tennessee along w/ a folding saw. Worth money if your willing to make a handle for it I used a broken tomahawk handle and made a 14 inch handle
