Our deluxe Kentucky Belt Axe is now available fitted with a deluxe hardwood handle, finished and ready for use.
Small Axes like this were carried by many Eastern Longhunters and were popular from the French & Indian War period up through the early 19th century. Our hand-forged head, with its typical flat hammer poll and oblong eye, is 4-1/2" long with a 2" blade, making it a handy camp tool as well as a formidable weapon that was often carried on the belt or attached to the shooting bag. Furnished with a 14" long, straight-grained hickory handle.

I purchased this item a year back and the head broke off the handle. The wood is very soft and the wedge is very thin. The head is excellent, and I fashioned my own handle out of hickory and can now cut and split small timber w/ ease! Also it holds a very good edge and is easy to sharpen. The hammer side of the head seems to be hardened aswell.
