Our 18" Northern Plains Style Dance Quirt is made from mahogany hardwood and adorned with tackwork and a latigo or suede “whip” and buckskin wrist wrap.
A quirt, or short riding whip, was historically used to urge a horse to greater speed or even used by warriors to "count coup."
Now they are predominantly held during traditional dance.
