Product Details

This fine York County Style Screw-Tip Powder Horn is based on those typically made in the York County, Pennsylvania area in the late 18th and early 19th century. Ours feature lathe-turned, screw-off wooden tips and stoppers for easy filling, with beehive style base plugs, all made of nicely figured hardwood similar to walnut. The 3/4" leather shoulder strap slips over the wood tip and is then secured to the base with a hand forged iron staple. 10" to 14" in length.

Crazy Crow's 18th & 19th Century Powder Horns replicate examples produced from before the French & Indian War and up through the Fur Trade Era. Each has features inspired by actual period examples, including the base plugs, finials, and stoppers which are all turned from figured hardwood. Also appropriate to the period, the horns have either been polished out or given an antique satin finish.
