Blade: 4"; Thickness: 3/16"; Tang: 10x24"290" Skinners & the legendary quality of Solingen Steel blades is world renowned, and this tradition is continued today by the master craftsmen who produce our blades. Drop-forged for superior strength and edge holding ability, they are flat ground and polished to a fine, traditional satin finish and pre-sharpened to a fine edge. Simply add a guard and handle and you'll have a completed knife.
Some blades list specific fitting guards and others require custom fitting of a more generic style. Most round tangs are threaded during the forging process to 10x24 (3/16") size and fit Tang Nut #5425-011-002, while a few are threaded to the metric M4 size(Tang Nut 5425-011-021 or 022). Threads may require light cleanup for easy fit. All of our blades are excellent quality and made from the finest carbon steel.
ABOUT THE STEEL: Solingen Carbon Steel (5431-***-***)
These blades are from several different drop forgers and many are old stock from manufacturers who are no longer in business. Therefore, we only know that they are produced from high carbon steel with typical German quality controls. They normally test between Rockwell 57 and 58.
