Fully Beaded Plains Style Vest ca1950s-1960s

This is a nice old Fully Beaded Plains Style Vest, probably made in the 1950s or 1960s, and a great display piece. It is beaded on commercially tanned leather using old Italian beads in approximately 12/0 size with great old colors that have not been available in many years. The background color is in old, chalk white seed beads. The designs and colors are done in Sioux style, using tipi, morning star and cross designs, with a large diamond design on the back.

There is a repair at the left shoulder where the leather has separated, but other than that, the vest is in good condition aside from missing a few beads and several lanes that are loose but can be easily repaired. We do not recommend it for wear as the leather is old. The size is rather small, about a man’s size 36 or 38, and it measures 18” tall and 37” around. This is a great display item and would make a nice centerpiece for a beadwork collection.
