Typical of the camp knives favored in the West in the days of the mountain man, this style was made and exported in great numbers by the shops of Sheffield, England during the first half of the 19th century. Made to order for the hunter or cook, this heavy duty knife was a staple in the inventories of the fur companies. At 13-1/2" overall length, with wood handle and brass guard, this working beauty comes with a hand laced, incised decorated leather sheath.

I've been wanting this knife for a while and finally took the plunge and bought it. It is has a crude finis, but it looks like it fell out of a mountain man's sheath. It is well balanced and took an edge readily. I put a patina on it and it looks like an antique. I carry it daily and it works great! Not as huge as a Hudson's Bay Camp Knife, but almost the perfect size for every day work. Get it. You won't be disappointed.
