18th & early 19th century records from the American Fur
Company, the US Indian Trade Office and others are replete
with orders for "scalping knives", one of the most popular
knives of the fur trade era. Our scalper is authentically
styled after an original specimen found in Montana and
features rich, dark hardwood grip scales attached to the
handle with heavy brass pins and further decorated with
small brass nails. Overall length is 10", with a 5-1/2" to
6" blade.
